Band Biography

The Glitter Men first came to fame in 1971 as the backing band for “The Leader”. The band provided the hypnotic tribal backings for all of his major hits around the world including such classics as Rock And Roll Part 2, I’m The Leader Of The Gang, I Love You Love and many many more.

By 1973 the band had changed their name to The Glitter Band and were striking out and building a solid reputation as a top chart act in their own right with worldwide chart toppers such as Goodbye My Love, Angel Face, Let’s Get Together Again and People Like You. By 1976 The Glitter Band had changed their name to The G-Band. The subsequent album Paris Match clearly announced a new musical direction for the band. In 1985 original members Pete Phipps, Gerry Shephard and John Springate reunited for a series of shows that spawned the fabulous “Live At The Marquee” album.

Several years ago John Springate emigrated to Spain and Gerry Shephard died tragically in 2003. Pete Phipps has consistently continued to tour Europe with The Glitter Band after several years of recording with an incredible who’s who of musical artists including The Eurythmics and XTC. The Glitter Band of 2007 is an exciting “all-hit” show featuring all of The Glitter Band’s greatest hits as well as some of the better known glitter songs, performed faithfully to the original recordings. This show is a must for any 70s or Glam Rock event and features the amazing original Star Guitar sound and all the audience participation you would expect from the kings of the glitter sound.

Marc also runs his own touring Burlesque Show as well as managing the day to day affairs of The Glitter Band.

GRAHAM “LENNY” CLAYTON – Bass Guitar & Vocals

DOMINIC RODGERS - Lead Guitar/Star Guitar & Vocals
Dominic Rogers on Lead Guitar/Star Guitar quite possibly has the toughest job in The Glitter Band, filling the shoes of the late great Gerry Shephard. Dom has studied Gerry’s legendary sound and style and is essential to the authentic sound of The Glitter Band of 2007. Dom and Pete are currently writing new material together for The Glitter Band. Incidentally, the fist single Dom bought as a kid was Angel Face by The Glitter Band.

EDDY SPENCE - Keyboards & Vocals
Technically Eddy Spence is the second longest serving member of The Glitter Band. Having worked with The Leader in the 70s Eddy went on to tour with Pete, Gerry, and John right through until 1987. Having worked with an incredible array of artistes including Gordon Giltrap, Eddy has returned to the band in 2008 where his amazing keyboard skills take a starring role in The Glitter Band of today.
